What is HamBench?

HamBench is a native iOS utility for U.S. amateur radio operators. It combines reference data, study tools, and a real logbook in a single dark-themed app — with no accounts, no ads, and no third-party SDKs.

Core features work offline: FCC band plans, NCVEC exam pools, formulas, converters, CW drills, and local OpBook logging. When you're connected, optional integrations add repeater search and callsign lookup.

Core Features

Band Plans

Browse FCC frequency allocations filtered by license class (Technician, General, Extra) or view the full chart. Quick reference for operating privileges.

OpBook — Your Logbook

Log QSOs with callsign, band, mode, grid square, notes, and timestamps. Contest mode for focused operating sessions. ADIF export and optional iCloud sync.

Exam Prep

Study with official NCVEC question pools. Full exam simulation with realistic question counts. Study by topic or practice test mode for Technician, General, and Extra.

CW Training

Practice Morse with send, copy, and Koch-method modes. Adjustable speed and audio feedback for brushing up or getting back on the air.

Formulas & Conversions

Interactive exam calculators and bidirectional unit converters (power, frequency, distance). Plus phonetic alphabet and Q code references for on-air work.

UTC Clock

Live UTC time with local offset and day/night indicator — built for logging, DX, and contest work when you need the right time zone at a glance.

Repeater Finder

Search U.S. repeaters via RepeaterBook (free API token required). Filter by state, city, or callsign and jump to details on the web.

Settings & Personalization

Callsign lookup via Callook. License class filtering. Alternate app icons and themes. Links to FCC, ARRL, and other official resources.

Built for Operators

Offline-first: Band plans, exams, CW, and local logging work without a signal
Native iOS: SwiftUI app — fast, private, no web wrapper
No login: Your data stays yours; iCloud is optional for OpBook sync
Privacy-focused: No analytics SDKs; location only when you use repeater or grid features
Open source: MIT licensed — inspect the code on GitHub

Who it's for

New hams preparing for Technician, General, or Extra
Contesters and portable ops who need UTC, band plans, and ADIF export
CW learners using structured send/copy/Koch practice
Everyday operators who want a clean logbook and repeater lookup on the phone

Requirements

  • • iOS 17.0 or later
  • • iPhone or iPad (portrait)
  • • RepeaterBook API token (free) for repeater search
  • • iCloud (optional) for OpBook sync across devices

Data & Disclaimers

HamBench bundles FCC band plan and NCVEC exam data for reference and study. Always confirm operating privileges against current FCC Part 97 rules and official exam materials. Repeater and callsign data come from RepeaterBook and Callook when those features are used.

Write Markdown the way it should feel on macOS — fast, focused, and native. MasterMD combines a syntax-highlighted editor, live preview, and programmer-friendly themes in one clean app. No subscriptions, no cloud lock-in. Your files stay on your Mac.

Built for how developers actually write

Whether you're drafting READMEs, technical docs, notes, or blog posts, MasterMD keeps you in flow. Open a .md file, write with real syntax highlighting, and see your document render instantly — side by side or full screen.

MasterMD is native to macOS, optimized for Apple Silicon, and designed for people who live in Markdown every day.

Features

Syntax-highlighted editor

Your Markdown markup is highlighted as you type — headings, bold, code fences, links, and more. Optional line numbers and adjustable font size keep long documents readable.

Live preview

See exactly how your document will look, with styling that matches your chosen theme. Preview updates smoothly as you edit, without slowing you down.

Flexible layout

Switch between Editor, Preview, or Split View with a click or keyboard shortcut. Focus when you need to write; preview when you need to polish.

Insert panel

New to Markdown or need a quick reminder? Browse categorized syntax — headings, lists, code blocks, tables, links — and insert at your cursor with one click.

Nine beautiful themes

Programmer themes: Midnight Code, One Dark, Dracula, Monokai, Nord. General themes: Paper, Classic Light, Sepia Reader, GitHub Light. Themes apply to editor, preview, and UI.

Open, save, and export

Work with standard .md files on disk. Export polished documents to HTML or PDF, styled with your current theme — perfect for sharing docs outside the app.

Document statistics

Track words, lines, and characters at a glance. Optional status bar for when you're writing to a length or reviewing draft size.

Privacy-first

No account required. Preferences are stored locally on your Mac. Your documents are files you choose — MasterMD doesn't upload your content.
